Thursdays’s Workshops

Friday’s Workshops

Join in the Joy of Dance

World Groove Movement Class with Lydia Smith ~ The World GROOVE Movement is dedicated to spreading the joy of dance!

Daffodil Workshop area 10am

Groove is a delicious and unique way that makes dance easy, accessible and fun for everyone. We come together to unite, celebrate, connect, play, heal, and get healthy through dance. If you can move, you can groove! Groove has been described as the most creative dance class in the world. We dance to all kinds of music and for each one, I lead you in 2 or 3 movement patterns or rhythms. It is simple and easy and fun and you can’t get it wrong. One student described it as “hippie zumba.” I would say that it is sort of like ecstatic dance, but with a bit of direction (and a healthy dose of self esteem building) And it’s massively fun.

All Ages Workshop!

Potions, In & Out by Meredith Come pour yourself into potions!

Daffodil Workshop area 11 am

Learn how to use common ingredients from inside the home, and outside, to affect positive change. Each participant will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience making a community potion, foraging for ingredients, and creating their own take-home potion. All ages are welcome, though if you are under 8 years old, please bring an older helper.

Psychic Self-Defense for Survivors

1pm at the Rose Ritual Space join Priestess Maeve and explore psychic self-defense

I invite you to join our gathering of survivors of abuse, whether you are currently in the midst of abuse, or living your way past the crisis. We will cast a circle of safety and explore psychic self-defense from basics to more detailed magick. We will be examining the concept of personal agency and how to protect that right. Therefore, you will have opportunities to speak and act during this workshop/ritual, but it will be your choice how much, and in what way, you choose to participate.

Maeve Wilde is the High Priestess of a coven in Denver, and I am also a survivor. I have counseled and advocated for abuse survivors for more than 25 years.

Please Note: This workshop/ritual is for adult (18+) survivors only. Survivors from all spiritual paths are welcome. Clothing is required at this workshop. Please bring your own chair to this workshop, as well as a water bottle or other beverage.

Making Rhythmic Music

Drumming in Community ~ Let’s Play! Join Pat and learn about drumming together!

Daffodil Workshop area 1pm

Pat wants to share tips and techniques for playing in a drum circle setting that put you at ease and help the circle play better together. Joining a drum circle can be intimidating, and that’s not cool at Untamed. Let’s learn ways to make joining in easier and more exciting! To get us familiarized, Pat will share some customs and point out some taboos of drum circle culture. Then, to get us grooving, we will get drumming and explore some techniques for playing within “the groove” and finding your ways to express your rhythmical self. Let’s support the groove and each other’s personal expressions!

Introduction to FCBD Belly Dance

Shake, sway, and get your hips moving with KareIsis

Stage area 2 pm

If you can walk, you can shimmy!  “Imagine this: There was a time in history, a long time ago, when the bounce and sway of a woman’s hips was considered so beautiful that they set it to music and made a dance out of it …” ~ Carolena Nericcio

Fat Chance Belly Dance is a language of improvisational dance.  KareIsis will lead an introduction dance class – this will be a DANCE class – not a sit and watch exhibition.  FCBD®Style celebrates the strength and beauty of working together as a group. Formatted steps, cues, eye-contact, and the familiarity of musical phrasing allow dancers to stitch together an improvisational tapestry each time they dance.

NOTE:  Anyone with FCBD or ATS training is encouraged to attend to show the true beauty of improvisational dance.  Wear comfortable clothing and sensible shoes.  Bring a water bottle also!

Saturday’s Workshops

Music for Ritual and Magic

Interactive workshop involving the placement and use of sound and music in ritual and magical workings with Rev. Melissa S Ashton, MNM, Mountain Ancestors Grove, ADF

Rose Ritual Gathering Space 10am

Sound is a well-documented tool for inducing trance and raising energy, but too few pagans know how to use it to its fullest potential. In this workshop, we will begin by discussing the brain mechanics behind why it works to help us better understand this important tool. Once we have covered the whys, we will discuss the hows, including incorporating music into both public and private practice, appropriate song choice, and exercises using other vocalization techniques for magical workings such as the “Druid’s Hum,” intoning the Awen, and solitary and group toning. Please bring along an object to be charged, if desired and any healing requests you may have.

Navigating the Virtue Buffet

One Priest’s Guidance for Living the Good Life with Rev. William Ashton, ADF

Snapdragon Gathering Space 10am

What is it that feeds our spirits? What sustains a healthy soul? When we feel within ourselves the onset of possibly making bad choices, or feeling unsure, or short-sightedness, or fearful, or wanting to give up, to what (or to whom) do we turn? When things seem darkest, what do we do?

Join Rev. William Ashton, ADF as he shares one of the most-valuable products of his 15 years of pagan philosophy/theology study and community, congregation-based ministry: why an engaged virtue practice makes better people. Through his easy presentation style (he’s from New Orleans), these spirit-wrestling exercises and tough contemplations become accessible to all pagan folks, regardless of tradition or denomination. ALL folk are welcome and encouraged to attend!

This class will be focusing on the HOW we, as pagan folk, live our lives in excellence, as well as why living virtuously is important. Finally, we’ll discuss some tips, tricks, and exercises we can do to maximize each moment of feeding our souls the most nutrition-dense experiences possible.
