Gathering Again!

Many of you know me as Pat the drummer.  Yep, that’s me.

It’s been a long road to get to the level of comfort and safety that has me excited to gather again.  I’m so excited to be looking forward to outdoor drums and dancing around fire under the stars.  It’s a sacred space that is brought to life by the people in it.  The energy we put in is multiplied – it gets swirled about, blended, and together we create a space of magic like no other.  For some, it’s a golden opportunity to dance into trance.  For others it’s a time to feel supported and safe.  Still others arrive to learn new ways, new movements, new music, new heights of expression.  It’s always a fine space in which to meet people.

I use this space to drum into and out of trance, soak in energy from the collective, stir in my spice, and bring it back out to share with the drummers and dancers.  It’s a beautiful bountiful chance to bring your full self out, your Untamed self, and share it in our magical space.

In ways of intention, energy, and physically, the Magic of the drum circle is built by community, blessed by community, and enjoyed by us all.  I am moved to tears of joy when I see our community working together.  I may be a pushover, though, because I get a similar feeling when I see siblings getting along with each other.

I wear other hats, of course, such as father, partner, amateur home remodeler, music aficionado, setup/teardown helper.  I’ve got a new hat this year, and it’s a bigger one than I usually go for.

I am Head of Facilities at Untamed.

Yes, through some quirk of the universe, I have arrived at the right place and at the right time to take on a role that will stretch me in ways I’ve shied away from in the past.  I’m nervous, but it’s the kind of nervous that propels me forward.  We’re a new festival, so we are treading new ground in a few ways, but we walk that ground with lots of experience in our staff.  Our facilities team is small at this point, with room for more to join us.

In ways of intention, energy, and physically, the Magic of Untamed is being built by community, blessed by community, and enjoyed by us all.

Consider helping us expand the volunteer team, won’t you?

Benefits of volunteering for Untamed:

  Shaping the new traditions

  Building connections

  Working with awesome, awesome people

Learning new ways of doing things

  Expanding your circle

Saturday Zoom meetings don’t start until 10 am – you can still sleep in til 9, and stay in your jammies!

Arrive to Untamed the day before (Thursday), and stay an extra night

Specifically for Facilities, I present to you The Facilities Motto:

Nobody burns out, everyone works safely, we watch each others’ backs, we learn and have a fun time!

I am so excitedly looking forward to this the gathering community.

We will remember that the goal of Untamed is building a stronger, more diverse community through gathering in safe, sacred space, to give and to gain, in the interest of furthering each other’s spiritual growth.  We will all create that, because the Magic of Untamed is being built by community, blessed by community, and enjoyed by us all!

Thanks for reading, I look forward to seeing you at Untamed!
